Legris shows great pace in Valencia as Team West-Tec lead the way
Jonathan Legris, the undoubted 2008 sensation of Spanish F3, produced a devastating performance around the streets of Valencia as Spanish F3 supported the European F1 Grand Prix on the weekend of 23rd and 24th August 2008. With a rare Formula 1 support race, all of the teams were very keen to impress and Jonathan was on top form, being very fast in all sessions. Jonathan again astounded onlookers with his performance in the eight year old Dallara F300. A superb second in free practice, Jonathan qualified an amazing fourth, despite having to abandon his best lap following a competitors crash. Making a good start from the damp side of the grid Jonathan tried to move up to second at turn two but was pushed out wide and down to fourth position. On lap three, and after a safety car period, Jonathan was pushed into the wall following contact with the car of Roberto Merhi - a big shunt which caused great damage to the car. This was a great shame as Jonathan was clearly quicker than the young Spaniard who went on to finish third. Although the result wasn't there, Jonathan still showed his tremendous talent, which was commented on strongly, both in the GP2 paddock as well as in the F1 pitlane which cannot be all bad! All of the Team West-Tec drivers were very fast over the weekend, meaning that the Teams Trophy won by the team was undoubtedly well deserved. Thor-Christian Ebbesvik was in blinding form and took pole position before leading the whole race, from lights to flag, becoming the fastest ever F3 driver around the circuit in the process. Francisco Villar, also had the best showing to date of his F3 career, qualifying in a very impressive 10th overall, and then finished and excellent 11th overall, which was a fourth place finish in the Copa de Espana class. Last but by no means least, Ma Qing Hua impressed many with a top ten lap in free practice, although his qualifying was sadly ruined by a broken gearbox which meant he had to line up towards the rear of the field in an unrepresentative 25th position. Despite the street circuit not offering the most overtaking possibilities, the Chinese driver made an excellent start and picked off rivals on most laps to finish in a very creditable 13th position ? fifth in the Copa de Espana class. Jonathan Legris: Obviously the result was disappointing for me, although we again showed great pace which I know was noticed. I suppose these things happen, although it was a shame to be shoved into the concrete wall at top speed? I was delighted to see Christian take the win for the team though, which was a fitting reward for all of their great efforts. Engineer, Roger Parkes: Jonathan was unbelievable yet again. An outright podium would have been stunning but it just wasn?t to be. People who matter did notice his driving though ? and they know he is the real deal. Team Principal, John Miller: Overall, the team?s results and overall pace was well noted and we must thank Vodafone McLaren Mercedes for allowing us to use their pit perch as well as cleaning it and retuning all of the channels for us! Not to mention another leading F1 team who sent a case of chilled champagne to our awning in congratulations for our performance ? which was certainly much appreciated. The Spanish F3 Championships now look forward Magny Cours, the home of the French GP in September.
Jonathan to perform infront of the F1 teams
Team West-tec and Spanish F3 stand out Jonathan Legris will visit the Valencia Street circuit once again, a month after the first outing at the circuit, but this time infront of the F1 and GP2 teams. Jonathan, who was very unlucky at the circuit last time out to not claim another outright podium due to a problematic 4th gear still managed a podium in race one and a front row grid start for race 2, a massive feat in an 8 year old car compared to the 2008 and 2006 cars he competes against. Jonathan has managed to carry some great momentum this season, with a podium finish at every race weekend so far, but with only one race to help keep this record and every driver gunning to impress, Jonathan will have to be at his top performance to walk away with another trophy.
Unlucky weekend for Legris and Litespeed
Jonathan and the Litespeed F3 Team struggled heavily for pace at the weekends race in Silverstone, as the unique SLC R1 chassis seemed to fair badly in the cross winds of the International Circuit. With gearbox gremlins damaging qualifying, relegating Jonathan to the back of the grid on both occassions, all was left to Jonathan to race through the field. Race 1 started well, overtaking several cars at the start but the gearbox gremlins crept in once again and Jonathan found himself once again, at the back end of the grid. As he picked his way back through the traffic, overtaking 5 people in one lap, Jonathan was then hit from behind from a clumsy Texiera putting Jonathan in the gravel and out of the race. All problems solved for race 2, The SLC chassis clearly suffered in the winds and Jonathan managed a very lonely 5th place. The team will work on the problems before the next round at Donington where he will once again be aiming for a podium finish for the team
Jonathan will make another appearance in the British F3 International Championship this weekend on the Silverstone international circuit, once again in the new Litespeed car which he took to a second place on his maiden race in the series At Brands Hatch. The car has since undergone some work to solve the issues that stopped the team winning on the Brands Hatch GP circuit a month ago and this will hopefully boost the team into a potential winning position.
with only 1 1 hour test session playing a key part in the weekends preperation, as a very tightly packed racing weekend will see the qualifying sessions take place on Friday before both races on Saturday.
Legris on the pace and on the podium
It was a historic weekend as Team West-Tec’s Spanish F3 team raced on the brand new Valencia street circuit on the weekend of 26th and 27th July.
With the fantastic new circuit winding its way round the America’s Cup port for over 5km, and including an attention grabbing bridge section it was a great place to be, despite Friday’s free practice being severely restricted due to the finishing touches still being put to the facility.
With the first session of unrestricted running being delayed until Saturday, the West-Tec drivers were well on the pace and looking to show well.
Despite not finding the much older F300 as suited to the track as expected, Jonathan was disappointed to line up ninth after qualifying – which still comfortably left him the fastest of the three British drivers in the field.
Another to make a good start, Jonathan moved up continually over the race to end up with a fine fifth place overall, which secured third place in the Copa de Espana Class for the Dallara F306/F300 cars, to maintain the team’s record of scoring at least one podium in every Spanish F3 weekend that the team has ever taken part in.
This finish put him on the front row for the second race and he responded well, actually leading for a short while on the opening lap before settling in to a steady third overall position. What wasn’t apparent was that he was already suffering with gearbox maladies and a misfire. After dropping down the order to sixth place over the next few laps he was eventually forced to retire to the pits as the misfire worsened. The team quickly traced that to an ignition coil but by then it was all too late. What was particularly galling was the coil was brand new on Friday as the team routinely replaced a lifed component! Nonetheless Jonathan’s performances again marked him out as a man to watch and he maintains an amazing position in the overall Championship just 14 points off the outright lead, despite competing in a car between six and eight years older than many of his rivals have at their disposal.
Other Team West-Tec drivers also had eventful races with Christian Ebbesvik taking a superb third place on the 29 car grid – even though both of his best laps were ruined by red flags. A good start saw TCE move up to second and, after a safety car period, he and Alguersuari pulled away from the field and Ebbesvik was threatening to find a way past the highly-rated Spanish driver.
Unfortunately pushing just a little bit too hard meant that on lap 11 Christian clipped a kerb and spun, rejoining much further down the order. From a lowly starting position, Christian was the undoubted star of race two, moving up relentlessly as he made to way to a superb fourth place at the finish. Unfortunately, he was then given a time penalty for an alleged safety car infringement – that was vehemently denied by the Norwegian, which dropped him back down the order.
Francisco Villar qualified in a competitive 18th position, but was another to suffer as his best laps were ruined by red flags when he was in the last sector. Having seen his data, Francisco was set for two racy outings but suffered appalling luck in both races.
In race one, he moved up three places on the opening lap but was then taken out totally by an out of control Xavi Barrio entering the bridge on lap two. With the suspension completely broken on the front right, Francisco had no choice but to stop.
After sterling work by the team, Francisco was able to start race two with a fully repaired car, albeit from the back of the grid. He again moved forward strongly, passing several cars on the first part of opening lap before again being hit from behind and pushed into the wall, breaking all of the parts that had just been replaced as well as those on the left too.
Making his debut, both with Team West-Tec and in F3, Ma Qing Hua produced an excellent performance over the whole weekend. Finding a brand new street circuit far from the ideal place to take your first steps in a new Formula, Ma nonetheless impressed by taking 19th in qualifying. The team data showed several places to improve and Ma certainly was even better in the races, although both were spoiled a little by poor starts. However, the Chinese moved forward in both races and came away with good 15th and 12th place finishes as he drove tidy and combative races, overtaking regularly despite the track having few genuine overtaking places.
Jonathan Legris: The first race was great, and to finish on the podium here was a special experience. Race two was obviously more disappointing but I am sure we will be on the pace when we return.
Team Principal, Gavin Wills: Jonathan was stunning again – in fact the team are starting to become immune to realising just how significant his achievements are in the F300!
The Spanish F3 Championships now look forward to return to the street circuit in Valencia, to support F1 at the European Grand Prix in August.
Valencia Street Circuit to play critical role in Championship

The Brand new F1 Circuit on the streets of the Valencian port will play a key part in the Championship as it heads into the second half of the season this weekend, and also the following race infront of the F1 crowds a month later.
The circuit, which is very similar to that of Spa, will be a new challenge for everyone and it will also see a shake up in the driver line up in several teams, including Team West-tec as they incorporate Ma Qing Hua a young Chinese driver, new to F3. Although the circuit is a street circuit, the characteristics is much closer to that of Spa than Monaco, which should give no major advantage to the 2006/2008 cars.
After the great result at Spa earlier in the year, Jonathan and Team West-tec hope to emulate that success and whoever wins this coming weekend will be a favourite to win infront of the watchful eyes of the F1 teams in a months time.
Legris lights up Brands
Jonathan Legris made a major impression on the British Formula 3 paddock at Brands Hatch at the weekend with a scintillating performance in the fledgling Litespeed F3 car.
Driving the unique car for the first time on Friday in practice, Jonathan impressed mightily with a very competitive fourth place on the National Class grid for race one, although a disappointing second qualifying session saw him languishing at the tail of the field.
For Sunday’s raceday, Litespeed had invited a large number of guests which made their pit box an exciting place to be and added extra pressure to Jonathan in the team’s desire to do well.
For the first race, Jonathan made a great start and immediately jumped up the order to second place in class and was challenging the leader, Jay Bridger, hard while at the same time having to keep an eye open for challenges from behind. As the race settled down, Jonathan and Jay eased away from those behind and Jonathan was again closing in on the leader when an accident caused the race to be curtailed after a crash elsewhere on the circuit. Nonetheless this was a fabulous result for both driver and team, one which they celebrated in style around the podium and back in the garage afterwards.
For race two, Jonathan again drove a great first lap to make up places although starting last it was always going to be hard on a track where it is almost impossible to overtake. Despite that handicap, he eventually made his way up to a very creditable fifth in class, although those in front were long gone by that stage. This was another good result though for the team so nobody was too downhearted.
Jonathan now returns to his full-time drive with Team West-Tec in the Spanish Formula 3 series for the weekend of July 26th and 27th as the series christens the exciting and new Monaco-style Valencia street circuit which hosts F1 at the European Grand Prix in August, when the Formula 3 will be a prime support race.
Jonathan is in a healthy fourth place in that Championship overall, only seven points off the lead in just his first year in the category.
Jonathan Legris: I really enjoyed this weekend. I think I could have sneaked the win in race one if it hadn’t been shortened but second place was great for the team anyway.
Unfortunately the problems in second qualifying made race two really hard and so the team made some aggressive set-up changes for that race which didn’t really work, and made the car much more of a handful, so coming through to fifth was really as good as could be expected.
The Litespeed guys are very enthusiastic and the car is basically good, although at the beginning of its development for racing in British F3. With some more development and testing I am sure it could be a regular feature at the front of the field.
Nino Judge, Litespeed F3 Managing Director: Most people know we are a brand new team with a brand new car but Jonathan was absolutely fantastic. He was very fast in the car, gave tremendous feedback and was an all round pleasure to work with. Everybody at Litespeed was amazed and thrilled when he scored our maiden podium in just our second ever race weekend! He certainly justified our decision to offer him the drive, and I must thank Team West-Tec for allowing him to drive with us this weekend.
John Miller, Team West-Tec Principal: Jonathan was very impressive this weekend, with driving performances that I know drew positive comment and were noticed up and down the pitlane. He has been amazing in Spanish F3 this year and we agreed to race at Brands to make sure those in Britain were aware of that impact. After today, perhaps we will consider doing some more in Britain as the calendar compliments that in Spain nicely.

Jonathan's last British outing saw another podium
Challenging weekend ahead for Legris
Brands Hatch GP will host the 7th round of the British F3 this weekend and also Jonathan's 1st race in the series. Although Legris has been racing in Spanish F3 this season, the British rounds will hold a different challenge whilst behind the wheel of an undeveloped yet fast Litespeed R1 car.
While Jonathan has been racing in heats of 45 degrees this year already, Brands will play a very tough mental role on the 20 year old as he learns the attitude of the car, an unfamiliar sequential gearbox along with what looks to be a wet weekend.
If the weekend does infact become rain sodden, Jonathan who took his first car win in the torrential rain at Donington Park will be confident of a podium finish in the B class Championship race.
Legris takes his first turns of the car early friday which he hopes will be dry to help develop the characteristics of the car.
Jonathan to race in British F3 with Litespeed

Litespeed F3 team have linked up with Jonathan Legris for mext weekends F3 race at Brands Hatch to help develop the new exciting Litespeed car. The car, which has only raced in Britain once this year will hopefully see the youngster add to his already very creditable results this season on the Spanish F3 Championship.
"This is a great opportunity for myself, and i have to thank Team West-tec for organising this chance for me and Litespeed for having the faith in me to develop this car. This will hopefully take all of us involved a bit further up the motorsport ladder" Brands Hatch GP, a fearsome and fast circuit which Jonathan knows well from his Formula BMW exploits at the circuit will see testing on friday, qualifying on Saturday and 2 races on Sunday. For more information see www.litespeedf3.com, www.teamwest-tec.com
Legris Amazes once again
Albacete in 40 degree heat was the scene of rounds 5 and 6 which Jonathan and Team West-tec knew a result similar to that in Spa was an impossible task and from the first test on Friday it was evident just how far off the pace the 2000 car is around albacete compared to the newer 2006 and 2008 cars. Not helped by a visit to the hospital after an accident the day before, the 20 year old struggled to get the set-up on what was a very hot and dusty circuit.
Qualifying went all the wrong way, with a much more driveable car after extensive changes, the first part was to place a time and check the set-up but , coming into the pits at the last second, Jonathan was called into the weigh bridge where the car would not start losing valuable time. When the car finally started, their was no time on the clock for Jonathan to put on his second set of new tyres so opted to finish the qualifying session on the same set. 17th was the result, but knowing that he can race and the times were not too far off, a sense of optimism was in the team.
With a mediocre start in race 1, Jonathan got passed by the faster starting 2008 cars but with a strong driving performance on the opening 2 laps, he soon found himself in 11th, right behind team mate, Christian Ebbesvik, now in the new 2008 car. A car falling off ahead promoted him up to 10th where he would stay, hassling his team mate into mistakes and defensive moves throughout. Race 2 though was a totally different story, with a good start, and once again a few storming overtaking manouvres on the first lap, Jonathan jumped straight into 6th. After having early on lap 1 overtaken race 1 winner Sanchez, Jonathan withstood all the pressure put on him while still keeping in close contact with the cars ahead. All the fun though came at the end, with 2 laps to go, the cars infront started battling allowing Jonathan and the pursuing cars behind a chance to gain another place. Jonathan unfortunately was the slowest in the group but with good tactics, he made a stunning move around the outside at the fast 3rd to last corner moving up to 5th on the last lap, only 2 tenths from 4th. This also gave him his 6th trophy of the year, with a 3rd in class after his 4th in race 1. "No one expected a top 5, especially qualifying 17th and the odds were stacked heavily against us, but we did damage limitation to our championships and thats what we aimed for this weekend and we got a bit more". "It was also a hard weekend for the team with alot of changes beforehand so i must thank them for their job" Jonathan now drops back from second in the standings to 4th overall in an 8 year old car, only 7 points behind going into the fast and unknown Valencia Street circuit in 4 weeks time.
"Albacete will be a struggle"
Jonathan Legris, who currently lays 2nd in the Spanish F3 Championship in an 8 year old car says that Albacete, Spain, this coming weekend will be the biggest challenge this year. The configuration of the Spanish circuit means the highly aero advance 2008 and 2006 cars should be a dominant force on the circuit which demands high entry speeds. Jonathan, who runs the only 2000 car on the grid this weekend has currently out performed the expectations of himself, his team (Team West-tec) and has recieved high praises from numerous figures in the sport for his consistent racing. With 2 overall podiums and 2 B Class wins at the previous race, Jonathan has already racked up 5 trophies from 4 races but he does not expect to increase that number at Albacete. " At Spa, we were competing against the best in the championship, so to race them means to race fair and hard. This is what you expect at the front end of F3 but mid-pack it is hard to understand the people you race as their cars may be as fast but their driving styles erratic" Jonathan is aiming for a top 10 finish, as he aimed for and managed to achieve in Jarama, with an 8th and running as high as 6th before contact from behind. The circuit is fairly new to Jonathan after a 1 day test had to be cut short after only 30 completed laps earlier in the year compared to the others 2/3 days pre-season test at the circuit. "We have to hope for luck to come my way, it will be a hot race, so i hope for mistakes from others and none from myself to capitalise"
Stunning at Spa
Spa-Francorchamps brings two class wins, two overall second places and a lap record!
Jonathan had a remarkable weekend at Spa, at a race circuit that suited the car aswell as the incredible driving style of the youngster. In testing on the first day, it was relevant that the 2008 cars had made a massive step forward in performance as Jonathan found himself ending the day as only 7th overall. Still a feat that in a 2000 car was well noticed. But it was in qualifying where Jonathan knew that getting into the top 5 would be crucial. The circuit however was slightly damp, and unable to work his car as hard as the aero advanced 2006 and 2008 cars, he wound up 5th, still a great achievement for the age of the car.
The first race was to take place only a few hours later, with dry conditions but overcast skies seemed to threaten as the cars lined up on the grid. With the circuit being dry as they left the grid, Jonathan made a reasonable start but got boxed into the first corner by a fast starting 6th place. This set Jonathan back as he had to follow the car for an entire lap before being able to overtake. With that done, he slowly picked off the other competitors and hunted down the leader, setting the lap record on the way, and was attacking just before the clouds started to give. Once again, with the less aero efficient car, Jonathan did well to keep 3rd placed Will Bratt behind and still managed to finish 7 tenths off the race winner to claim his first B Class win and second in the overall race. Race 2 sees the top 6 from the first race reversed so Jonathan once again started 5th. A great start meant he held 5th but it was clear that the 2008 cars had learnt from the previous race and made it very difficult for Jonathan. With the race being much warmer, it was almost as much a race of attrition as the lack of air caused extreme heat inside the car. Battling hard, he managed to very slowly bring himself into play and on the final lap looked to almost be in position to attack for the win. It was not to be however but this race was much more satisfying for the driver as he clearly had a slower car but without mistakes and fast speed the entire race just fell in place. The next race is at Albacete, Spain where he will be at a disadvantage to the newer cars but it does not mean he cannot punch a hole in the main championship as he now lies second overall.
Podium on Spanish F3 bow
Jonathan had a very mixed weekend, with incredible pace showing in testing, Qualifying went all wrong with his fastest lap blocked by another driver. This left Jonathan down in 15th position, behind his two team mates, even though greater pace was evident as he had shown top ten running pace during the testing sessions even though he was new to the circuit. In the race though, he made some great manouevers to climb to 8th for the chequered flag, passing his two team mates along the way. This also gave Jonathan a class podium even though he is in an 2000 car against the 2006/2007 cars in his class. "Qualifying was such a shame, as we knew that getting in the top ten would have been a great achievement, but i managed to do so in the race which showed i was able to race and pass the people i will be competing with all year"
Race two though was to be started on eighth, as you start where you finish in race one, and a quick getaway saw him straight into 7th before a safety car on the same lap. He was soon promoted to 6th as Gachnang picked up a puncture due to the debris strewn across circuit at nearly every corner. On the restart, Jonathan made a move on race 1 winner, Alguesauri who duely slammed the door on him, taking off half of the front wing. It was there on a matter of Keeping it on the circuit. With a fantastic job done at changing his driving style to lap at the same times as in the first race, he stayed with the front runners until his team mate, Christian Ebbesvik out braked himself in the first corner, collecting Jonathan. Unfortunate for the team, but a ver positive weekend for Jonathan, as he can build on this for the remainder of the season and the performance put in at Jarama will not go un noticed.
The next Race is Spa, in 3 weeks, where Jonathan will have a great chance of a race win overall. for more information on the weekend, visit www.teamwest-tec.com and www.crash.net or Contact Jonathan.
Great speed shown at Spa
Jonathan's testing continued with another strong showing at Spa Francorchamps, Belgium. The youngster put in a faultless performance on the one day test to learn the circuit but also marked out what can be a brilliant year as he toppled the newer cars. Jonathans next venture is out to Jerez, Spain, for two days before the first race of the season at Jarama on the bank holiday weekend 3rd/4th May.
Great first test
Jonathan started his first test at Albacete, with great promise for the season, even though his testing mileage was cut very premature due to a small problem with the engine. A minor off caught an oil pipe wrong on the engine and forced Jonathan out of the days testing after only completing 45 laps. He did however prove the speed that he had shown at Valencia was no fluke as he matched the times of the midfield A Class cars on a circuit unknown before the test. Spa is the next scheduled test, a month away, and will see Jonathan learn another circuit which host the second round of the Spanish F3 Championship.
Spanish F3 testing starts
Jonathan will make his first official Spanish F3 test debut at Albacete in Spain on the 26th, 27th of March. The test will be one of only a few pre-season tests Jonathan can take part in due to budget but as the circuits will all be new, any testing will be extremely valuable. " Soon i will be comfortable in the car, so it will be a matter of learning the circuits which i hope will only take one day to be full up to pace. Its a challenge im confident with" Jonathan will also visit, Spa, Magny Cours and Jerez before the first race of the Season at Jarama.
Legris to race in Spanish F3
Jonathan will take the next step of his career into the main European continent by racing in the Spanish F3 COPA Championship with Team West-Tec. The championship will see Jonathan visit some of the greatest F1 circuits around, including Spa, Magny Cours and Barcelona. The championship also entails a support race for the European F1 Grand Prix at Valencia which will be a great prospect under so many powerful eyes in motor racing. " This will be all new for myself, but the team are well prepared and extremely focused on the job in-hand as they proved by winning last years COPA championship. I felt i fitted right in with the car and the team so i hope we can go out and win races and learn for the coming years." To read more on Spanish F3 visit Team West-Tec.
Legris test F3 for Team West-Tec
Jonathan Recently test an F301 Dallara at Valencia, Spain, a circuit that has faired him so well in the past. This time was no different, for Jonathan was the Fastest in class and 4th overall to cars from the British and Spanish top classes. This was a great performance as the test underwent very slippery conditionsa as well as wet and dry which showed jonathans pace in all the conditions and how incredibly comfortable he felt within the car. Jonathan is looking for sponsorship to progress into F3 in 2008.
Fantastic Valencia World Final races for Legris
Jonathan Legris showed his racing promise as he raised his game to be the first British driver to cross the line in fifth, after the German cars of the top 4 proved to be unstoppable. From what was an extremely close qualifying, Jonathan lined up 7th, but with two qualifying groups, this would leave him as only 16th fastest overall. The karting style format though saw Legris start 8th, 7th and 7th in his 3 heats, each of which he finished 4th. This outlined his incredible racing abilities once again and gave him a great 4th place grid slot for the World Final race.
With a great get away, the front 5 escaped the mele which was to become a great battle behind. Jonathan soon found himself in 3rd position and held that for 10 laps until the might the German cars he had earlier outpaced came into their own. He did not give up easily though, which saw the drivers behind catch and he then had to defend his 5th position. He did so and eventually finished clear of 6th. The out come of the event though was held till late in the evening as a part number was missing from the skid block of Legris' car. Second place of Josef Kral also suffered the same fate of exclusion but both can hold their heads high, as the missing part number cannot improve performance and thier on track prowess is not in question.
FPA Sootout brings bad luck for Legris
Jonathan had his sights on winning the FPA Shootout which was held at Snetterton on the first weekend of the month. He went in a favourite to win as he had shown great pace in the previous race at Brands hatch the weekend before. This was not to be though as a very trying weekend saw Jonathan once again show his speed but also his bad fortune suffering from two cut tyres which needed replacing in qualifying and also two punctures in the race to end what was a great opportunity. Jonathan looks forward to being in Valencia in three weeks time, in a FBMW for the last time at the World final where the winner will recieve a massively attractive prize of a test in a BMW F1 car.
FPA Brings another podium and 3 fastest laps
A new car in the form of a Formula Palmer Audi dawned a new challenge on Jonathan Legris which saw a great first test day at Brands Hatch where the racing would commence on the weekend. Qualifying made strange results, with a solid 3rd in the first, the second caugo compromised the third but a strong 5th left him in a good position foht out the youngster which had a result of only ninth but after only 4 laps in total. This alsr a podium.
A poor start in the first race ruined the good qualifying form, but saw Jonathan drive his way back through to 6th. Starting 9th in the second, Jonathan made a good start and hunted down the front runners to finish within a second of 2nd place. The third though saw the best result of the weekend, with another clean start, Jonathan posted yet another fastest lap and only half a second behind the winner, and this years FPA champion, to finish a great second on the tough Kent circuit.
The next race is at Snetterton which forms a shootout for the final place
in the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award.

Another Second at Knockhill
Rounding off the Formula BMW UK season at Knockhill saw Jonathan take
another solid podium in the first encounter and a 7th in the second to
end the season 6th in the championship table. After showing very strong
testing times, Jonathan and the Motaworld racing team had an unfortunate
qualifying, leaving the youngster down in 6th and 8th respectively. In
the first race though, Jonathan showed the pace he had in testing and
drove through the mayhem packed damp race to notch up another podium finish
in second.
The second race saw an early challenge for 6th left him in the wrong position,
leaving him down in 9th. He did however climb back to seventh in the final
race of the year and also the final Formula BMW race to be held in the
UK. Jonathan duly said, “this year has been very up and down but
has also seen some great results so to round it off with another podium
is great.”
Back to Brands
A happy return to Brands Hatch saw an unfortunate qualifying with tenth in the first qualifying and fourth in the second. However having started back in tenth, Jonathan had a good start and completed the race in fourth place with the leaders in sight. For the second race Jonathan had another good start and saw an early opportunity for third before contact with another driver dropped him into seventh and finally finished in sixth.
The next event is at Knockhill on the 1st and 2nd September 2007.
Legris wins at Donington
Jonathan Legris proved that patience is certainly a virtue after 'raining'
supreme in a heavily delayed first Formula BMW UK race of the day at Donington
Park. With treacherous weather forcing the officials to twice delay the
start of the race, clearer skies but a wet circuit greeted the drivers
as they came onto the grid, but with little or no experience of such conditions,
the first few laps were certainly tentative.
Nonetheless, Legris showed his experience from the getaway, the Motaworld
Racing driver getting a superb start from fourth to round the first corner
in second place and snatching the lead half way round the opening lap.
From here, Legris simply pulled away to cross the line a clear five seconds
up on Marcus Ericsson and Henry Arundel to claim victory.
